Small and Rural Libraries Scholarship

A limited number of scholarships are available to students interested in careers in small, rural and community libraries. The scholarships are made possible through a grant awarded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services. Scholarships are anticipated to be available through Spring 2009. Students wishing to apply for financial aid under this scholarship program should:

• complete this form
• submit a Statement of Need, not to exceed 500 words, detailing reasons for seeking financial assistance and areas of special interest within information resources and library science
• submit a statement of approximately 150 words describing your interest in small, rural or community librarianship.
• Students do not need to attend full time to be eligible for this award.
• realize that students receiving financial aid are required to maintain successful progress toward their degree, defined as a minimum GPA of at least 3.0. Provisional students are not eligible for SIRLS Financial Aid.
  
  Do not use this form to apply for financial aid for programs other than the IMLS Small and Rural Libraries Scholarship Program.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
An application form must be submitted prior to the deadline for each semester in which you are seeking aid. To be considered for aid, students must submit the items listed above by the following deadlines:

Fall Semester: June 1
Spring Semester: October 1
Summer Sessions: Call for further information
