A Little Bit about Tucson

Close to 800,000 people live in the Tucson metropolitan area, a Sonoran desert valley bordered by 4 mountain ranges and bisected by several (usually dry) rivers. Average rainfall is 12 inches a year, occurring mostly in the late winter and the summertime. Several smaller streams in the foothills (Sabino Canyon, Pima Canyon, Ventana Canyon) flow nearly year-round, and aspen and pine forests are only an hour away on Mt. Lemmon.
