I see
by Anna Lash
my woman
says to me
look outside
of yourself
look at inside too
look until
you see
him
he is there
waiting
like you
you see yourself
in his presence
i am
he says
and so am i
i reply
the hope is that
we meet
face to face
and fear nothing
so i look
and look
again
eyes expectant
hopeful
joy filled
eyes closed
again i see.

Anna lives and works in Hayden, AZ where she is
the Head Librarian in a very small community library. She has been
there 8 years, and really enjoys the rural lifestyle and slow moving
pace of that Hispanic copper mining community. She hopes to graduate
in December 2003. She is a Knowledge River student and has really
enjoyed returning to college. Her daughter Julie will begin the
graduate program at SIRLS this Fall and hopes to also become a librarian
(following her mom's foosteps). She has been writing poetry all
her life and also likes performing poetry at readings. It is her
art!
