SIRLS Graduate Student Symposium
Save the date on your calendars, November 18, 2006 and start thinking about presenting a paper!
Announcing the Second Annual SIRLS Graduate Student Symposium: The Information Landscape: Emerging Perspectives to be held Saturday November 18, 2006!
What is this all about?
LSO, the Library Student Organization at SIRLS, is excited to sponsor this professional development opportunity for its students. This event was created to give library students the opportunity to present their scholarly work and experiences to peers, SIRLS faculty, and the broader library community of Tucson and Arizona.
Similar to other professional conferences, students will present academic papers, presentations or poster sessions giving voice to their unique perspective as graduate students in the field of library and information science. We are excited to announce our
keynote speaker this year, Michael Stephens of “Tame the Net” http://tametheweb.com/.
How do I get involved?
If you are interested in presenting, moderating or simply attending the symposium please check out the website at http://www.sir.arizona.edu/lso/symposium06/index.htm and keep checking as this site will be updated soon! Come help us in the planning of this important event! Please let Joy know soon if you’d like to get involved, and if you have any questions.
What information can I present?
This year’s topics include, but are not limited to: information policy; history of libraries/librarianship; intellectual property; copyright and fair use; access to information; libraries/librarianship and social responsibility; Information/Librarianship and ethics; and collection development.
