We want to send you to the ALA conference in New Orleans!!
|
Why:
As an official ALA Student chapter SIRLS is eligible to designate one student to
the roster of the ALA Student-to-Staff Program during the 2006 Annual
Conference. To qualify, the student must be a personal member of ALA.
Students who have already participated in the program are not eligible.
What:
ALA will provide FREE conference registration, housing and a per diem in
exchange for a total of 20 hours (typically 4 hours a day). The student should
be able to work on Fri., Sat., Sun., Mon. and Tues. June 23-27, 2006. Please
keep in mind that students can be expected to perform a range of duties, from
clerical, to sales, to use of computers.
How:
Send a brief paragraph explaining why you want to participate in the program,
your name, mailing address, telephone number and email address by January 27,
2006 to joyw@email.arizona.edu. If you attend we also ask that you provide an
informal report/presentation at the next LSO meeting after your return, describing your
experience.
LSO officers will do a random drawing at the January 27, 2006 LSO meeting and
will notify the winner by 8:00 p.m. that night. You will have 24 hours to
accept or decline (deadline to ALA is Feb. 1, 2006!).
**note: Travel expenses are not provided by ALA, please check out the GPSC
travel grant program at
http://www.gpsc.arizona.edu/sections/funding/fundingSubsection/travelGrants.php
(deadline is February 1!!)
Funding for travel expenses is also under consideration by LSO.
If you need any further encouragement, students who attend conferences and participate in this program benefit from
networking and especially the behind-the-scenes involvement in ALA!! |
