Biography
Assistant professor Bill Edgar brings an undergraduate major in business to his study of management and collection development in libraries. His interest is in developing theoretical models of both management strategy and collection development that will provide underpinnings for practice. A recent two-part study of collection development in corporate libraries, published by Library Quarterly, developed a theory of corporate library impact in the first article, then applied the theory to practice in a second article, identifying methodological tradeoffs. Currently Bill is extending this work to academic libraries. A frequent speaker at the annual conference of the American Society for Information Science & Technology, Bill recently presented there a theoretical approach to university library strategy. He teaches reference, collection development, and management of libraries.
